NDA 2018 : Must know facts

UPSC conducts a written exam for National Defence Academy (NDA) twice a year first in April end and second in second week of September. In 2018 NDA exams are scheduled to be conducted on 22nd April and 9th September in 2018 ,followed by extensive interviews by the SSB covering general aptitude, psychological testing, team skills as well as physical and social skills, along with medical tests to shortlist candidates for this prestigious institute. NDA is the Joint Services academy of the Indian Armed Forces where cadets of the three services, the Army, the Navy and the Air Force train together before they go on to respective service academies for further pre-commissioning training. The NDA, the first tri-service academy in the world .is located at Khadakwasla near Pune. The NDA ,established on 7th September 1954 is the ideal institution for the best youth in the country who want to be an army officer. Nearly 4,50,000 applicants sit for each written exam. NDA 2018 Vacancy Details

The UPSC has announced the details about the NDA Vacancy 2018. Total 415 posts are released by UPSC NDA 2018 Notification. The vacancy details are divided among the three sections: Indian Naval Academy, Indian Air Force academy and Indian Military Academy.

Total Number of Vacancies: 415

  • National Defence Academy: 360 (208 for Army, 60 for Navy and 92 for Air Force)
  • Naval Academy (10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme): 55


Eligibility Criteria for NDA 2018 Exam

Educational Qualification (Indian Naval Academy, Indian Air Force Academy, and Indian Military Academy). Candidates must have passed 10+2 (12th) or its equivalent or pursuing from government recognized Institute or board.
Age Limit 18 to 20 Years (Candidates born not earlier than 2nd July 1999 and not later than 1st July 2002)
Nationality Candidates must have Indian Nationality. A Bhutan or Nepal, Tibetan refugee came to India before 1st January 1962 are allowed but they should have the intention to settle permanently in India.
Physical standards After the written exam the medical examination will be held by the SSB to ensure, Candidates physical fitness. Medical tests like Gynecomastia, Tonsillitis, Varicocele, Overweight/Underweight, Undersized Chest, Piles, Wax (Ears), Deviated Nasal Septum, Hydrocele/ Phimosis.

Age Relaxation: There is age relaxation for the reserved category candidates which is based on the government norms.

NDA 2018 Exam Pattern

The UPSC NDA Exam Pattern 2018 is divided into two section: part-1 and part-2.

Part-1 is consist of the mathematical part and part-2 is consist of the general ability. The total maximum marks are 900 and total duration is 5 hours. For every wrong answer in the section the marks will be deducted from the total score -0.83 for Math, -1.33 for English, -1.33 for GK and 2.5 for math, 4 for English, 4 for GK will be awarded for each right answer.
